The Grounds Crew is responsible for field preparation, maintenance, and repair for baseball activities and special events.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Prepare, maintain, and repair all field, bullpen, and batting cage areas as needed
- Perform specific maintenance duties on the turf including mowing, edging and operating other specialized turf equipment tools
- Maintain dirt areas of the field which includes repair and maintenance of the mound, plate, infield skin and warning track areas
- Organize and maintain tools, equipment and supplies
- Batting practice setup and breakdown
- Pre and post-game field preparation, line painting, mound/plate repairs, infield maintenance, etc.
- Assisting with tarping field in event of inclement weather
- Dragging field during game breaks
- Perform related duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Associates or more advanced degree in Turf Management (or related field) preferred
- Minimum one year work experience as a groundskeeper at a college or professional baseball facility
- California Pesticide Applicators License or ability to obtain within the first year of employment
- Highly skilled in all technical areas of baseball field maintenance, including the use of specialized turf equipment, mowing skills, mound and plate repair, and turf grass replacement
- Ability to handle all physical demands, including lifting up to 100 pounds; walk, climb stairs and stand for extended time periods
- Must be able to kneel, twist, squat, and bend for extended time periods
- Must be able to work in wet and rainy weather as needed
- Valid U.S. Driver License
- Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
- Ability to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Knowledge of and a passion for professional baseball preferred
- Perform related duties as assigned
