SFMA Launches Environmental Certification 3.0

Version 3.0 of the Environmental Facility Certification program is now available. Version 3.0 includes two new sections: Managed Landscape and Open Space and Synthetic Surfaces. Synthetic complexes are not eligible for certification; this section is to acknowledge the best environmental management practices on a single synthetic surface within a complex of natural grass fields.

The process starts with a self-assessment of the facility. After achieving 80 percent pass rate on each of the 12 sections, the field manager engages an attester, who must be a Certified Sports Field Manager (CSFM). The attester comes to the facility and walks through it with the sports field manager to review that the stated practices are in place. After the attester signs off on the practices, the facility receives the certification, which is valid for three years.

Join your peers who have achieved this certification and validate your environmental stewardship. Use the certification to provide verification to administrators, athletes, and fans that you are protecting the environment and have attained a well-respected, industry-wide certification.
