Sports Field Specialist

Position Summary:
The Sports Field Specialist is a proactive and experienced individual that will spearhead project sales and project management encompassing the installation and maintenance of sports field surfaces. The Specialist also ensures that projects are estimated and completed on time, on budget, and within the MSC standards. This requires accurate estimating when the project is bid. The ideal candidate will exhibit proficiency in both new system installations and the enhancement or reconstruction of existing setups.

Success Factors

  • Increase in sales by generating leads, cultivating relationships, and closing sales, specifically new and recurring sports field projects.
  • Be knowledgeable about the products or services offered by the company and possess excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ensure that projects are estimated so the team is able to deliver on time and within budget.

Primary Responsibilities

Daily Expectations

  • Generates leads, cultivating relationships with customers, negotiating projects, and closing sales transactions.
  • Plans and oversees projects from initiation to completion. Ensures projects are delivered within scope, schedule, and budget while meeting quality standards.
  • Accurately estimates the costs and resources required for construction projects, design-build renovation projects, and/or service contracts.
  • Representing the company at various trade shows, field days, open houses, and other industry-related events, furthers MSC’s status as a leader in the industry.
  • Communicate crews in the field regarding projects, as necessary.

Strategic Operations

  • Proactively identifies ways to improve estimates, budgets, and more effective and efficient work.
  • Continuously improves knowledge, skills, and expertise in sports field management.

Leadership Expectations

  • Works collaboratively and positively with all MSC team members.

  • Provides constructive feedback to Senior Management, Superintendents, and Field Team Members of MSC.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail to complete projects on time, on budget, and to MSC standards.
  • Strong communication skills for the fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Sports Field Layouts
  • Experience with Soil Science Fertility and Turf Diseases
  • Experience with Sports Field Irrigation
  • Experience installing or maintaining drainage systems preferred
  • Positive and professional attitude
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, effectively and creatively solve problems.
  • Strong time management and self-management skills.
  • Understand and maintain the confidential nature of the company.
  • Current driver’s license.

Preferred Licenses and Degrees:

  • CSFM – Certified Sports Field Manager
  • MN Commercial Chemical Applicator License
  • FAA Part 107 Drone License
  • MN Commercial Driver’s License
  • Turf Degree

Benefits/Pay:
The base compensation range for this role is $80,000-$90,000. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors, including an individual’s knowledge, skill, and experience.
