Equipment Manager

Shooting Star’s Golf Course Maintenance Department is seeking a professional to become only the second Equipment Manager in the course’s history and complement our existing team’s efforts of providing world class agronomic conditioning. The Club, built with sustained environmental conservation in mind, is a Golf Digest Top 100 Tom Fazio designed 18-hole private facility that opened for play in 2009. The course is located at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Ski Resort, one mile from Grand Teton National Park, and boasts one of the more breathtaking mountain backdrops in the world. The golf season is Mid-May through Mid-October with an elite 15 KM Nordic/Cross-Country ski course maintained from December through April.

The Maintenance facility’s seven separate buildings were designed to mimic a ranch complex that allows for efficient traffic flow, all equipment to be stored inside, environmental sensitivity/safety and is fully functional for all industry needs. The Equipment Manager’s office and main work area are located in an 8,000 sq. ft. heated structure containing a soundproof Foley grinding room, vehicle lift, numerous stainless steel work benches, parts room, spacious office, and private restroom. We have a multimillion-dollar equipment fleet comprised of both lease and purchase packages. The majority of equipment is comprised of Toro, John Deere Tractors, and a PistenBully 100 snowcat. The Equipment Manager will directly report to Tyler Shrum, Golf Course Manager, is expected to maintain all equipment at its highest level, manage R&M/fuel budgets, and forecast future capex/equipment/parts purchases. Communication is key to our success and daily input from the Equipment Manager is required to assure the proper equipment/tools/parts for the job are always available. We will supply the position ample notice regarding upcoming maintenance practices to prevent surprises and allow sufficient time in preparing all equipment is set up for the needed tasks. Experience Requirements

  • 3-5 Years of Golf Course Mechanic Experience preferred.  Assistant mechanics or Skilled Mechanics from other fields, such as Agriculture or Construction will also be considered.

Special Requirements

  • Proven track record of quality preventative maintenance program
  • Knowledge and Experience with all phases of modern Turf Equipment (gas/diesel/electric), repair and maintenance
  • Welding and Fabrication skills
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Competent Computer skills-primarily Word and Excel
  • Ability to effectively communicate in both English/Spanish and keep business records.
  • Proven ability to manage small crews
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and work in variety of weather conditions while performing repairs
  • Maintain Clean & Organized workspace and keep a professional personal appearance
  • Knowledge and understanding of the game of golf.
  • Ability to contribute with Golf Course Maintenance Tasks or Nordic Grooming Operations if necessary.
