Assistant Manager of Grounds & Facility Operations
OVERVIEW
The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are the Single-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox and member of Minor League Baseball. Over the past three years, the team has experienced exponential growth within the community and baseball industry while activating the award-winning Atrium Health Ballpark. The organization has assembled a Front Office that is driven to succeed and establish the Cannon Ballers as a model franchise for Minor League Baseball.
The Cannon Ballers are seeking an individual that is hard-working, self-motivated, and driven by the upkeep of Atrium Health Ballpark. The Assistant Manager of Grounds & Operations is a full-time position that will primarily focus on grounds and field maintenance during the baseball season, while shifting attention to facility operations during the offseason months.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
GROUNDS:
- Assist in all aspects of maintaining the playing surface, as well as upkeep with batting tunnel and bullpens.
- Help coordinate all field preparations on game days and non-game day events.
- Daily care of the baseball grounds including mowing of playing surface, preventative maintenance to the grounds and equipment, and fertilizer application.
- Aid in the creation of a fertilizer/pesticide program.
- Maintenance of all field equipment and tools.
- Manage game day grounds staff by creating schedules and ensuring a positive work environment.
- Other team-related duties as directed by the General Manager and Head Groundskeeper.
FACILITY OPERATIONS:
- Assist in the upkeep and maintenance of systems and services such as HVAC, plumbing, electric, security system, elevators, videoboard, sound system, and trash removal.
- Provide support with yearly maintenance and improvement projects.
- Operate equipment such as a forklifts, scissor lifts, and maintenance carts, as well as power tools such as drills, table saws, pressure washers, etc.
- Complete scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, in addition to continually troubleshooting facility issues.
- Provide direct support and assistance with non-gameday and special events taking place at Atrium Health Ballpark.
- Contribute to other departments through the implementation of event specific logistics.
- Other team-related duties as directed by the General Manager and Facility Operations Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in turfgrass management and/or working knowledge of the maintenance of sports fields. Prior professional baseball field management experience preferred.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Candidate must be a professional self-starter who is a team player yet able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Being able to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines with quality results is a requirement.
- The ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays is a necessity.
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
