Chicago White Sox Field Manager

The Field Manager is primarily responsible for managing the operation, maintenance and related staff of the Camelback Ranch-Glendale stadium field and bullpens, ensuring a safe, competitive playing surface that exceeds MLB standards for professional baseball. The Field Manager will also assist the Assistant Superintendent in overseeing facility practice field areas as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Implement and coordinate maintenance program as assigned.
  • Keep accurate records and submit weekly reports
  • Assign, and oversee daily tasks/responsibilities for designated staff.
  • Prevent, troubleshoot and recommend solutions to field issues such as turf stress, disease, irrigation problems, etc.
  • Supervise and train staff in the preparation, maintenance and restoration of assigned field complex.
  • Lead assigned crew on specific field projects as needed.
  • Operate and monitor operation of field maintenance equipment including use of hand tools.
  • Coordinate with team staff on field setup, workout/game schedules and field conditions.
  • Ensure use of proper equipment and adhere to safety standards and precautions.
  • Collaborate with Superintendents and Supervisors to ensure efficient utilization of facility’s grounds resources.
